Information

  • Dressage entries must be received by the Monday before the show.

  • Times will be posted on Horse Monkey 2 days before the show.

  • All dressage tests are available from British Dressage.

  • No martingales/ boots/ bandages permitted. Spurs, whips and callers are permitted.

  • Please report mounted to Arena Steward at least 10 minutes prior to your time.

To enter select Summer Show-SHOWING PACKAGE, when you follow the link below.  Here you enter all classes that you would like to enter. There will be no entries on the day. You will all be provided with a bridle number through horse monkey which you will be required to wear for all classes. This can be printed off at home or worn using a bridle badge.

 

Saturday Schedule

Ring 1 (EQUINE AMERICA 1) 

The following 5 classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competitions/ qualification, please refer to the CHAPS(UK) Members’ Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. Only skewbalds/piebalds can compete in the classes.

All stallions, 4 years and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID disks in the ring, without exception.

Class 43 - Best Turned Out - Ridden (Plaited)

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, any height. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 1 – CHAPS Open Youngstock

Youngsters 1, 2 and 3 years of age. No foals. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 2 -  CHAPS Open Nat/Trad/Cob In-Hand

Mare, Gelding or Stallion any age No foals, of Native, Traditional or Cob Type. To be eligible for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 3 - CHAPS Open Non Native In-Hand

Mare, Gelding or Stallion any age No foals, to be shown plaited. To be eligible for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 4 - CHAPS Open Nat/Trad/Cob Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion 4yo or over of Native, Traditional or Cob Type. To be eligible for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 5 - CHAPS Open Non Native Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion 4yo or over, to be shown plaited. To be eligible for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 6 - TGCA Pure Bred Young Stock In-Hand

Mare, Gelding, Colt or Filly. (see Show Qualifiers page for colt rules) 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 7 - TGCA Pure Bred In-Hand 4 yr and over

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Riders can be any age, but must be suited for the size of horse/pony. (See Show Qualifiers page for Stallion Rules) 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 8 - TGCA Pure Bred Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Riders can be any age, but must be suited for the size of horse/pony. (See Show Qualifiers page for Stallion Rules) 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

Class 15 - Open Hogged Show Cob - Ridden- TSR Amateur Q

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, exceeding 148cms. To be shown hogged and trimmed.  Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the show. Spurs may be worn by adult riders. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 18 - Ridden Coloured Pony/Horse- TSR Amateur Q

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. Riders of any age, except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. To include Piebald, Skewbald, Palomino, Dun, Spotted, Appaloosa, Roan. Ponies under 153cm Horses 153cm and over. Spurs may be worn by adults but not on ponies. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 45 - Open Show Hunter / Show Pony- TSR Amateur Q

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, not exceeding 148cms. Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the show. Spurs may be worn by adult riders. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 47 - Open Lead Rein - Plaited Only- TSR Amateur Q

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. RIders to have attained their 3rd birthday but not their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To include plaited only. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. To be led by an attendant. Lead Rein attached to the noseband only. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 49 – Open First Ridden Show Hunter/Show Pony- TSR Amateur Q

Class 23 - Competition Horse or Pony - Ridden- TSR Amateur Q

Class 31 – Open M&M Ridden- TSR Amateur Q

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Four years and over. To be registered with the respective pure breed society stud books. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs must not be worn. To be split small and large breeds. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 32 – Open First Ridden M&M- TSR Amateur Q

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. Not exceeding 128cms. Riders must be 4yrs & over. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday by 1st January in the current year. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 34 - M&M Welsh A&B Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Four years and over. To be registered with the WPCS Welsh Section A or B. This class may be split numbers depending. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 35 - M&M Welsh C&D Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Four years and over. To be registered with the WPCS Welsh Section C or D. This class may be split numbers depending. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 36 - Part Bred Open/Noice Welsh Ridden

Mare, Gelding or Stallion. Four years and over. To be registered with the respective pure breed society stud books.  1st and 2nd qualify for Championship. Please let the judge know which section you are in.

Class 30 – Novice M&M Ridden

There will be a group go round in walk and trot. To be led by an attendant. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship (Sunday).

 

Class 38 - Newbie Junior Rider

Mare or Gelding. Four years and over. Riders to be the correct size for mount. This class is an introduction to showing class for riders 16 years and under, who consider themselves either a new, nervous or novice rider at showing not to have won 1st place in any class before 1st January in the current year. There will be a group go round in walk and trot. A short individual show will be required. If riders are not happy to canter they may stay at a trot. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY.

 

Class 39 - Newbie Senior Rider

Mare or Gelding. Four years and over. Riders to be the correct size for mount. This class is an introduction to showing class for riders 17 years and over, who consider themselves either a new, nervous or novice rider at showing not to have won 1st place in any class before 1st January in the current year. There will be a group go round in walk and trot. A short individual show will be required. If riders are not happy to canter they may stay at a trot. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY.1st and 2nd qualify for Championship (Sunday).

Class 40 - Young Handler 4yrs – 7yrs

In Hand. Horses to be a suitable size for the handler 128cms, handlers not to have attained their 8th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship

 

Class 41 - Young Handler 8yrs – 11yrs

In Hand. Horses to be a suitable size for the handler, handlers not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 42 - Young Handler 12yrs – 18yrs

In Hand. Horses to be a suitable size for the handler, handlers not to have attained their 19th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP ON SUNDAY

Class 9 – In–Hand Veteran 15 yrs + - Area VHS Qualifier including CHAPS

Mare or Gelding. Any Breed. Fifteen years old and over. Competitors will be required to give a short show. Exhibitors must display equine age. (Special Rosette to Eldest Pony. Special Rosette to Eldest Horse) Highest placed skewbald/piebald veteran will qualify for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals 

 

Class 16 - Ridden Ex-Racehorse

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, to be registered with Weatherbys and have raced under Jockey.. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 19 - Ridden Palomino

Mare or Gelding or Stallion. Four years old and over. Riders of any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions) 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship 

 

Class 20 - Ridden Spotted

Mare or Gelding or Stallion. Four years old and over. Riders of any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions) This is open to any height and any breed. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship,  Highest Placed Member Qualifies for BSPS

 

Class 21 - Ridden Rescue 

Mare or Gelding or Stallion. Four years old and over. Riders of any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions) 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship  

 

Class 22 - Pure/Part/Anglo Arab & Foreign and Rare Breeds Ridden

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. Riders of any age. To be registered relevant   Society(see rules for Ridden Stallions) Rare Breeds eligible are those on the Critical & Endangered liststo include part breds. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 24 - Family Horse or Pony – Ridden

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. To be suitable for all the family and ridden by two generations. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 159 - Traditional Cob Ridden

Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. Riders of any age. Traditional cobs only, non plaited. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 17 - Ridden Veteran including- Area VHS Qualifier including CHAPS

Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 15 years old and over. Highest placed skewbald/piebald veteran will qualify for CHAPS. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals (see show qualifiers for rules)

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Registered with the respective Pure Breed Societies of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Highland, New Forest, Connemara, Fell and Dales. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

 

Class 53 - In-Hand Welsh A&B Youngstock

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Registered with the respective Welsh Breed Society. 1st and 2nd qualify for Championship.

There will be a group go round in walk and trot. A short individual show will be required. If riders are not happy to canter they may stay at a trot. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY.

Qualifier Information Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No. July Summer Show 25-025. Both owner and rider/exhibitor need NOT be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and have a valid qualifier card. Members to apply in to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. ​ Veteran Horse Society – AREA QUALIFIER 2025. First round qualifier for the Veteran Horse Society Supreme Final: VETERAN HORSE OF THE YEAR 2025 Kindly Sponsored by Allen & Page. Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their cards in the ring and have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership. This MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge. Those wishing to join or renew with the Society will need to apply for this before 1st April each year or a late penalty fee of £15 will be charged. Regional Finals are open to members only. All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships, to be held at Arena UK, Lincolnshire on 29th August – 31st August 2025. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule which is available mid-season 2025. Only fully qualified Members holding a current VHS membership card and a VHS showing card with a valid qualification signature may enter. Both cards must be carried in the ring and produced on request – no exceptions will be made. VHS Supreme Final qualification. Competitors placed 1st and 2nd in each class will qualify for the corresponding class at the VHS Supreme Final, to be held at the National Veteran Championships, Arena UK, Lincolnshire. 29th August – 31st August 2025. For classes with fewer than 5 entries forward, Supreme Final qualifications will be awarded at the judge’s discretion and are not guaranteed. If the competitor has already qualified or does not wish to attend, they must refuse the qualification and pass it down the line on the day. Hand your show card to the judge for signing. VHS M&M Supreme Final qualification. Only given at the judges discretion. The highest placed M&M in each class will qualify for the VHS M&M Supreme Final at the National Veteran Championships. Registered Breeds only may enter. Competitors to have their M&M section signed by the judge during placings. Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA) TGCA TOYS In Hand and Ridden Classes Affiliation Number - 25/1207/STQ. No known breeding required to enter these classes. No Membership required to Enter these Classes. TGCA Breed classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”. Traditional Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs and are qualifiers for the Traditional Finals at ‘TOYS’. Part Bred classes, are open to all part bred traditional gypsy cobs and are qualifiers for the part bred finals at “TOYS”. The exhibit must have one parent that is a traditional gypsy cob. Stallions – All stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class MUST be TGCA registered, have passed TGCA stallion evaluations and their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Stallions and colts over the age of two, MUST be shown in a stallion bridle with a metal bit and chain lead as per the current TGCA rulebook. Current TGCA members must present their Membership card and Qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non-members MUST receive a qualification card from the judge and have 21 days to join the TGCA and register their horse to validate the qualification. The Greatest Gelding Award The award is aimed to encourage the showing of geldings, therefore creating a market for often unwanted colt foals and enabling the creation of a network of potential performance prospects to represent the best Traditional Gypsy Cob breed in the World at the highest level. Quest for a Star Championship - Traditional Gypsy Cobs 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the TGCA classes above may go forward to the Quest for a Star Championship as per below rule. ONLY current TGCA members and horse/pony that is already TGCA registered can exhibit in this championship. Membership card and Members qualification card (specific to that exhibit) must be presented upon entry into the ring. The Champion and Reserve qualify for the Ultimate Star Championships at TOYS. This Award should be given to the highest placed registered Traditional Gelding. Example Class Layout Traditional Gypsy Cob Classes TGCA YOUNGSTOCK IN HAND, colt, filly or gelding 1, 2 and 3 years old, open height TGCA SMALL SENIOR stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, 148cm and Under TGCA LARGE SENIOR stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, Exceeding 148cm (2 above class can be combined into 1 Class) TGCA SMALL RIDDEN, stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, 148cm and Under TGCA LARGE RIDDEN, stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, Exceeding 148cm (2 above class can be combined into 1 Class) TGCA Quest for a Star Championship - As per rules above ​ ​ South West Pony Association This show is a qualifier for the South West Pony Association Championships to be held on 28 - 30 August 2025 at The David Broome Event Centre. To qualify for the 2025 Championships: Enter one of the qualifying classes at this show. If you are placed first or second in the class, you should be given a qualifying card. 1) Fill in the information required on the front of the card. 2) Register with Showing Scene if not already registered. This is Free! 3) Join SWPA via www.showingscene.com as a 2025 Member. 4) Take a picture of the card and upload to the relevant Championship Class. ( Championship Classes are 1-134 on Saturday of the Championships) Please Note: Membership Fee for the 2025 Championships if £25 which includes two adults and all children at the same address and all equines owned or leased by the family.
